The Clinical Effectiveness of the Disaccharidase Preparation (Galantase^(®)) in Adult Patients with Diarrhea

Abstract
|
|
|
This is to assess the clinical effectiveness of the disaccharidase preparation (Galantase®) inm adult patients with diarrhea of various causes. The Galantases powder, 2 to 3 gm a day, was given orally after meal in 3 to 4 divided doses, in 30 adult patients with diarrhea. Twenty-seven of the 30 patients were diagnosed either functional gastrointestinal disturbance or irritable bowel syndome, and the remaining 3 were the patients who developed diarrhea after gastrectomy.
Out of the 30 cases, 12(40%) showed an excellent effect, 9(30%) showed a good effect and 6(20%) showed a slight effect. The overall efficacy rate was 90%.
